Visit Next9 and Mamaway at the Grand Baby Fair (and report Milk Code violations)

Any shopping plans this weekend?  The Baby Company Grand Baby Fair is happening from 1 - 3 February 2013.  My friends from Next9 and Mamaway will be sharing a booth!  You can purchase Mamaway items at a discount.  Pumpease pumping support bands will also be available at a special prices! ;)
Meanwhile, you can catch next9 head mama Jen CC Tan and get tips on babywearing or simply ask for tutorials on how to wear your ring sling.  She will also be distributing her lovely babywearing postcards during the fair!
Grabbed from Next9's Blog

Aside from the next9 and Mamaway booth, I was able to drop by the Ergo booth - where the carriers are all 20% off, except for the PPB carrier --> from P9,000 now marked down to P6,400. The Baby K'Tan and Papoozle is also available at the Grand Baby Fair.  I was happy to see the many options available for babywearing families ;)
Other great deals to check out would be from Mustela Philippines and Maclaren.  I also saw a display of Kor water bottles!  If you brought your kids to the fair, you can let them enjoy GymPlay at the Gymboree booth.

The event is free and the Mega Trade Hall is decorated with a "Candy Land" Theme.  If you'are a Mom Card holder, you can also grab a swag bag with items worth P1,000, with a minimum single-receipt purchase of P3,000.00.
They are also offering free wi-fi during the event.

Some reminders:
  • Grand Baby Fair is a No Food, No Drinks Allowed venue. We have drinking stations inside. Check out food joints on 3rd Floor
  • Bring additional verification IDs when you use your credit card.  Bring youjr Mom Card to earn points
  • Consider bringing cash. They have booths that offer cash transaction only
  • Megamall has new parking slot in Mega C. Ideal parking is Mega B 5th Level
  • You may want to shop early to avoid heavy crowd towards noon time. The fair opens at 10am.
Although I'm happy to learn that they have set up drinking stations for breastfeeding moms and a breastfeeding area, it appears that there are still Milk Code violations that have been occurring with the numerous feeding bottle vendors.  For instance, did you know that under the Milk Code, samples or promotion devices to induce sales directly to consumers at retail level is prohibited?  So this includes special displays, discount coupons, premiums, rebates, special rates, bonus, tie-in sales, prizes, gifts of products covered by the Milk Code.

Although I didn't see any formula milk companies at the Grand Baby Fair, I did see a lot of vendors of feeding bottles and teats with "SPECIALS".  Also, did you know that you cannot giveaway feeding bottles as it would fall under the prohibited acts of the Milk Code?

Here are the list of items covered under the Milk Code

  • Breast milk substitutes, including infant formula and milk supplements
  • Foods, beverages, and other milk products (when marketed or represented to be suitable, with or without modification, for use as partial or total replacement for breast milk)
  • Bottle-fed complementary foods
  • Feeding bottles and teats

So what can we do as consumers?  Report!  And here's how to do it - take a photo and submit to Milk Code Philippines - http://www.milkcodephilippines.org/reportviolation.php.  I already did.  Unless we report, complaints about Milk Code violations won't have any resolution.

So, attend the Grand Baby Fair, visit the Next9 and Mamaway booth and don't forget to photograph and report Milk Code violations that you may see during the Fair :)
