In January of this year, Earth Mama Angel Baby launched the campaign "Support with Integrity" pledge to facilitate judgment free breastfeeding. The purpose of this campaign is to not only to promote and normalize breastfeeding but also to remove barriers and build a supportive community as well.
Sometimes, the most difficult person that a breastfeeding mom encounters is a fellow breastfeeding mom. Some moms are so set in their [breastfeeding] ways that any deviance from the standard is immediately frowned upon. As such, instead of promoting breastfeeding, these moms end up doing the opposite.
The Support with Integrity campaign is focused on establishing support for mothers who want to breastfeed, regardless of whether it is done exclusively, mixed, as a full time pumper, at home, at the office, with a galactagogue or even through a wet nurse or donor's milk.
The campaign emphasizes that there is no wrong way to breastfeed and positive vibes and support are essential. There may be differing views but in the end, what is important is to have a happy mama which is necessary for a happy baby.
This reminds me of my previous post on thinking before commenting, where golden rule applies - if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all.
The essence of the pledge is:
By displaying the Support with Integrity badge and signing the pledge, I agree to hold hands and help mamas get what they need to make breastfeeding work for them, no matter how they choose to do it. If a mama and baby are making it work, I'll stand and cheer them on from the sidelines.
Will you take the pledge?
